ORIGIN

Historically a tartan was a large piece of cloth worn draped by Highland men and women. Clans began to weave these cloths in patterns that came to represent membership in that group.

THE WEAVERS

All tartans in our collections are proudly made in Scotland by skilled craftsmen and women who are responsible for their design, dye, warp, and weave. The knowledge these craftspeople build up over time is passed down the generations, proving that the art of making tartan is in their blood.

WOOL

The wool used on the making of our Tartans is not only warm but because of its lanolin content it’s also waterproof, providing comfort against the elements.

VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHERS

This model is made with vegetable-tanned leather, which has a much longer life than chrome-tanned leathers. Each shoe pair made with it has unique shades and nuances, which are a mark of genuineness.

LEATHER LINING

All of our shoes are fully-lined with leather, which feels soft on the skin and will conform to the shape of the foot over time. It’s also durable and allows air flow, letting moisture evaporate.

LEATHER SOLES

Shoes featuring leather soles will feel better and better over time as they adjust to the contours of your foot. Additionally, our soles feature rubber inserts for a better grip in wet surfaces.

CORK INSERTS

These boots feature a cork insert, which acts as thermal insulator. and a cushion, increasing your comfort while walking. Cork also allows your shoes to breath.

BLAKE-STITCHED SOLES

Our shoes feature Blake-stitched soles, which means that the soles can be exchanged. A big advantage of the Blake stitch is that shoes are light and flexible to walk with.
