Our quality Liebre Style leather shoes are made to last for decades, especially if you care for them properly.

In many cases, we focus a lot on taking care of the outside of our leather shoes. For this, a good shoe shine and using protective cotton bags will do the trick. However, it is equally important to maintain your shoes from inside. This is where wooden shoe inserts come into place. They are fundamental to keep your Liebre Style shoes in good shape as they age.

Why do I need Shoe Trees

As you wear your shoes through the day, your feet will normally sweat. The leather lining of the shoe will absorb moisture, which will cause the lining to stink and the leather to wrinkle over time.

It’s very important that you get this moisture out of your shoes when you take them off. A shoe tree holds your shoe in its proper shape so it dries out correctly. Beside, a good wood insert is porous and helps dry out the lining of shoes.

In summary: Shoe trees are a must if you want to keep your Liebre Style shoes in excellent condition for years.

Cedar Wood Shoe Tree

There are three major reasons why cedar wood shoe trees are preferred over other types. First, cedar wood contains natural oils that don’t let bacterial or fungal growth. Second, it is very resistant to damage caused by decay or water (very important since we’ll use it to absorb moisture). Third, the natural aroma of cedar naturally repels insects, and at the same times smells amazing to us humans.

Our cedar wood shoe trees have extra metal knobs to keep your shoes’ shape during polishing. The spring mechanisms are important too, in order to keep a firm pressure on the length and width of yours shoe and reduce creases.

By the way, when the cedar aroma begins to fade over time, just lightly sand it to bring them back.

How Many Shoe Trees do I really need

The best case scenario would be to have a shoe tree inside each of your leather shoes, to keep them in good shape at all times. However, you can still get a pretty good result if you use one single pair of shoe trees and rotate it as you wear different shoe pairs.

The most crucial thing is to make sure that your Liebre Style shoes will properly dry after wearing them. For this, you’ll need to use wood shoe trees right after you’ve removed your shoes from your feet. The shoe trees need to stay for at least 24 hours in order for the drying process to run its full course.

Once the shoes are dry, the shoe trees merely retain shape and help with smell control. Therefore, you can get away with using a single set of shoe trees on your most recently worn shoes.
